"The Mighty Storme" By: Samantha Towle Review

The Mighty Storm
By: Samantha Towle

Synopsis from Goodreads
It's been twelve years since Tru Bennett last saw Jake Wethers, her former best friend and boy she once loved.
Jake Wethers, sexy, tattooed and deliciously bad lead singer, and brains behind The Mighty Storm, one of biggest bands in the world, left Tru with a broken heart when he moved from England to America with his family when they were both fourteen.
Sent to interview Jake for her music column by the magazine she works for, they are both unprepared for the sparks that fly the instant they reconnect. Only, there’s a complication to their instant feelings for one another – Will, Tru’s boyfriend of two years.
Then Jake makes Tru a job offer she can't refuse - travelling the world with him and his band. But taking the job means leaving Will behind, and being on the road with the band means spending an inordinate amount of time with Jake.
Is Tru strong enough to resist the delectable bad boy who once held her heart so completely, or will she willingly risk it all for one night with the worlds most notorious womanizer?
My Thoughts
Oh my gosh. I’m writing this immediately after reading it and I just want to say, there is so much to talk about I don’t know if I will get it all in. I’m completely going to be a fan girl, so please prepare.
I started this book two different times, so it wasn’t love at first sight. However, that said, when you read this please get to page fifty at least. I think this book is so character driven that you simply become addicted to these people and how they relate to one another.
Tru Bennett is a journalist working at an up and coming magazine. When she is offered the chance to interview new “it” rock star, Jake Wethers she reluctantly agrees. Little do her bosses at the magazine know, Jake was her childhood friend, best friend really, and her first crush.
Jake has lived the life of a rockstar and lived it hard. Going through drug addiction, multiple women, and the death of his best friend  and bandmate has made Jake realize he needs more in life. When he sees Tru’s name on a list of interviewers, all of his old feelings return for childhood bestfriend.
When Tru meets Jake again, she is nervous, but that quickly pales in comparison to their friendship as it quickly sparks back up. Adding to this complex situation is Tru’s boyfriend, the reliable and trusty Will.

“I’ve only ever loved one girl, Tru – and that’s you. It’s always been you. I loved you from the moment I knew how to love.”
Told from a first person point of view, Tru guides us through her story and romance with the ultimate rock star bad boy Jake and subsequent breakup with the good guy. The emotional intensity of this novel is simply wonderful and I noticed my stomach getting tight or tears in my eyes at certain points. Towele delves into some pretty heavy subjects such as drug use, death, domestic abuse and handles them exceptionally.
“I’ll never be good enough for you, I know that. But I’m no good without you, and if that makes me a selfish bastard for wanting you as badly as I do then so be it because I can’t live a life that doesn’t have you in it.”

The Mighty Storm is definitely going to make my top ten list for the year, its that good. Jake just wants to be accepted for who he is and Tru is looking for a place to belong as well. Its a superb story, filled with fantastic characters and a fast paced story. To be honest, I didn’t want it to end and simply cannot wait for the next book in the series.
